The famous Murchison Falls, also known as Kabalega Falls, are waterfalls between Lake Kyoga and Lake Albert on the Victoria Nile in Uganda. The water falls are regarded as the world’s strongest waters fall thus a safari here will really count. At the top of Murchison Falls, the Nile forces its way through a gap in the rocks, with only 7 meters width, and tumbles 43 meters deep before flowing westward into Lake Albert. The outlet of Lake Victoria sends around 300 cubic meters per second of water over the falls that squeezes into a gorge less than 10 meters wide wow. This therefore makes the water falls the strongest in the world and one of Uganda’s most celebrated natural wonder.
The Water Falls are a subject to history as some historians believe that a party of Roman legionaries dispatched by Nero may have reached the Murchison Falls in 61 AD, but there is major controversy about the feasibility of what would have been a very difficult achievement. The natural wonder was first sighted by Sir. Samuel Baker and Florence Baker.
Samuel Baker and Florence Baker were the first Europeans who definitely sighted the waterfalls and thus remembered for that. The water falls were named by Baker, and were named after Roderick Murchison, the President of the Royal Geographical Society.
